I love the spray on kind (a whole lot easier to coat a moving 5-year-old than lotion) but I will buy whatever is on sale. This is the first year we have really gone out in the sun and to the pool everyday so we are tearing through the sunscreen. Thankfully, a lot of our stores have been having Buy One Get One Free sales. Also, I try and get us out early in the morning or later in the afternoon. We still use sunscreen but we use a whole lot less than if we were out in the hottest parts of the day.

I have always bought the big bottle of the off brand at WalMart, we have never had a problem. I buy a new one every summer and throw away the old one. I was always taught that you should never use old sun screen. If we need to send some with someone (camp or something) I either buy small sample bottles (99cent) or put some from our big bottle into an empty container for them. A little sunscreen goes a long way, even for really white people like us

Bought a bunch of it on sale at Target - the spray on Target brand - love the stuff.
My derm told me it does expire after a year, even if no exp date is on there - its doesnt go bad, but it gets weaker, so your 50 spf could be functioning like a 30 if its old.

Awsome tip. Zinc is better for you than most of the other stuff right? Because I wanted Blue Lizard, but didn't know where to find it. I ended up getting the Walgreens brand Zinc sunscreen. It has been working well, but with 6 people(well, only 4 of us actually use it, the men are stubborn) it goes fast. I will need to buy some again soon. My goth daughter has decided she wants no hint of a tan this year.

Back to the original question, no, I don't save it year to year anymore. If there is any left at the end of summer, I can use what is left on my face for the rest of the year. I buy the stuff that is ok for your face. I buy fresh sunblock each summer.

I have bought the no-ad sunscreen, and it does work well. This year I bought the Target brand (up and up) and it works just as well as any other I have tried, and it is fairly cheap compared to brand name- I think it was around $5. In the past I used sunscreen from the year before, but now that I have two little ones who are total outdoor junkies, we go through a lot of it.

Love the continuous spray stuff, so I get the Walgreens brand continuous spray lotion when it's buy one, get one free. Walgreens has a lot of deals on sunscreen, check their fliers.

For my one year old, I suck it up and pay big bucks ($8 for a tiny stick) for the neutrogena baby sunscreen for his face. That lotion stuff gets into his eyes, poor guy, so I have to use stick sunscreen for his face. Continuous spray works well for the rest of him, no sunburns yet.

That is exactly what I buy, and I don't consider it skimping because it is generic. I like it much better than other brand names and as I recall CVS had buy 1 get 1 half off earlier this year. You can never skimp on good skin care in my opinion!
