I use a sponge in a container of diluted fabric softener. 2 parts water to 1 part softener. Just wring out the sponge a little then throw in with clothes. Works for us better than dryer sheets.

I don't use them very often...

I think part of how much static you have is what kind of clothes you have. We have mostly cotton clothing and I don't have issues with static at all and I don't use anything to combat it. When I dry something synthetic like my kids track pants or nylon mesh shorts (although I don't really dry it, but I do throw things in the dryer for about 10 minutes before line drying); I do use half a dryer sheet.

We found out from our pediatrician that our daughter's ezcema was out of control because of dryer sheets....when you accidently wash one a chemical reaction occurs with the detergent and if you have very sensitive skin it can cause awful breakouts....sooooo he told us to quick using them all together and we did. I use white vinegar in my rinse cycle and I don't really notice any difference. We don't miss them..in face my mother in law still uses them and the smell of her clothes really gets to me now!!

I tear them in half, or sometimes I just use a little vinegar in the wash instead.

I haven't used dryer sheets in years. I have a set of blue dryer balls. LOVE them!

ETA: and it was a gift so even better!

I don't buy them! They are bad for your dryer too and we never have a problem with static.

We use vinegar in the rinse cycle instead and dryer balls in the dryer.

I never use them either. They aren't natural, and I've been reading about how they are made with some pretty nasty chemicals, so in an effort to improve our healthy home, I'm keeping them out.

If you're a true softener junkie like me then going without isn't an option LOLOLOLOL! Liquid softener is the cheapest. I've found that buying name brand (better quality so I find it goes farther) or by trial & error I have figured out which store brands that I like, I water it down a bit and by doing so it goes a longggg way.

Fill a container half-full of liquid fabric softener, half water. Then keep sponges soaking in it. At laundry time, wring out one sponge and add it to the clothes in the dryer!
