I love my laminate floor! It is so easy to take care of and very durable. We have 2 large dogs and they have not scratched the floor with their nails at all. A friend has natural wood and her dog has totally wrecked their floor with his nails. Will be installing laminate in the rest of the house this next year (did family room, hall and son's bedroom last fall downstairs). DH installed himself and we bought it on clearance at Home Depot. was originally 3.99 a sq foot and when it was all said and done with the clearance we did 900 sq feet for a little over $300. It was awesome!

We put laminate flooring in our kitchen in 2002. It has held up fairly well, considering that we've had 2 dogs and 2 kids running around on it. It's easy to clean and fairly decent, cosmetically. However...when it goes, I would like to replace it with a really nice looking tile. Not because I don't like it, but because I'd like a cosmetic change . I don't remember how much we paid for it, but our whole kitchen remodel was $3,500 and the flooring was a good chunk of that. The wallpaper was around $500 and my DH built new cabinet doors. We also sanded and repainted the cabinet bodies. So - I'm thinking the flooring (small kitchen) was in the $1500 - $1750 range. We chose Pergo and got it from Home Depot.
