My parents own an office cleaning business. They started it like 20 years ago. Anyhow, when they first got started, and were just a small company, they used to make their own glass cleaner (or multi-purpose cleaner). It was just water, ammonia, and rubbing alcohol.

BE CAREFUL when mixing chemicals! I believe if you mix ammonia and bleach, it can be toxic!! I mean REALLY toxic. So do some research before you decide to start mixing household chemicals!

so glad to see this thread! I just ran out of my Clorox anywhere spray and I love the stuff - so I though, heck, I can make this...well, I did 25% bleach to 75% water - it seemed pretty weak until I got out my dish towel like normal to clean the baby high chair and wow, surprise - the spray completely bleached thru the dish towel.
Thanks for the real recipe here, though not sure I can make this every day, and if thats the case, how come you can buy it in the bottle and it doesnt go bad?

I have never bought the Clorox cleaner, but I am sure that if you check the ingrediants there is some sort of stabilizer added. All I know that according to the state (MN) daycare rules, it needs to be mixed fresh everyday because the bleach loses its potentcy.

Thanks Happymom! I didn't know a bleach mixture lost its effectiveness after a day. Good to know!

I didn't know it lost its effectiveness that quickly. I mixed it up three or four days ago, then got sidetracked before I actually used it. I just cleaned the bathroom a little while ago and it still smelled pretty strong. Maybe it was okay for a quick wipedown of the counters but I think if I'm going to be cleaning something heavily soiled I'll make a fresh batch for that.
