I have multiple pets and at times it seems that at times I spend more money on my animals than I do on my family. Does anyone have any tips on saving money without compromising the welfare of your pets?

If they dont have sensitive stomachs, go for the cheapest or generic foods they can handle.

Honestly, I spend more on Buddy, than I did my daughter! But he also was a lot less trouble

But he is worth every penny!

I agree that it is ok to go generic on pet food too. If generic food is good enough for us it should be good enough for them. What we always did was mix dry generic food with the dry good stuff.
Not sure if this is for all people but for quite a few years my mom would give our pets their shots. She would still take them to the vets for check ups but wouldnt let the vets give the shots. She would make them right down exactly what they needed and than go to the feed store (stores that sells pets and farm animals food and supplies) and get everything there for way cheaper than the vets. But my mom had years of experience doing shots (I took allergy shots at home for years plus my dad has been a diabetic for 30 years) so doing shots on the dogs and cats was easy for her.
Groomers-not all dogs need groomed more than getting brushed out occassionaly but for those that need more done, you can always learn to do it yourself.

We give shots and groom them ourselves. Not to worry though we have vet trained family members.
We usually use generic food and give them better food/treats when we can find it on sale. I know its not good, but we also mix some scraps in with the generic food to keep them from completely rebeling

We can't use generic food - generic dog food gives the dogs VILE gas, and generic cat food gives our diabetic cat bladder infections.
I get rabies vaccinations done at the vet's office so there is a license on file with Animal Control, but I do the rest myself.
