What type of vacuum cleaner do you have? What do you like about it? What do you dislike about it? Would you recommend it to anyone else? And how long have you owned it?
I have an Animal Dyson. LOVE it! We got it when DD was about six months old, she's turning 6 next month. I love no longer buying bags. And I love the hose part on the vacuum cleaner, not to mention it is highly entertaining to take it apart in front of people.
What I dislike about it ... well I don't care for cleaning it but that is just part of life and cannot really complain about it.

I have a rainbow. First my mom gave me her old rainbow and I had it for years. After my ex ran over the pipes to it, he bought me a new one. I have had it for 6 years. I really like how good it vaccums but I don't like the fact that it is such a large piece of equipment that you have to always drag out and put together for each use. If I had a smaller vaccum I would probably use it more often than just once a week. The larger vaccum also makes it hard to find a place to store it.

It's a lightweight bagless upright - I forget the brand. We bought it with a Target gift card that my brother-in-law and his wife sent us as a wedding gift - cost about $35 and we've had it for three years now. It gets used mostly on the rugs, but it also has a bare floor setting - I prefer to sweep, but Himself prefers to vac the floors. I like the fact that it's bagless (less paper waste), but I really wish it had a hose so that I didn't have to use the coin-op to vaccuum the car.

I have the Eureka Boss and I love it. Works great on carpets and hardwood/tile...has good attachments. The only thing I don't like is the hose that you put on the attachments, sometimes slips off the hook when you're not using it.

We have a Bissell, I forget the model but it's something like Pet Plus. It cost around $160 through Fingerhut (so it's probably cheaper at the stores). It's a bagless that's supposed to be good for picking up large amounts of pet hair, and has a bunch of different attachments to lift hair off of different surfaces.
I'm not too pleased with it right now, because it's looking like we're going to have to replace the belt for the second time (we've only had it a year!), and it has several places that clog up so every other use or so you have to pretty much take it apart and clean it out. I really need to vacuum so I'm probably going to borrow MIL's this weekend.
I get paid this week and I'm half tempted to pick up a cheap stick vac...I'd at least have something to use until we get the Bissell fixed and a stick vac would be nice to have around for cleaning up small areas between the regular vaccumings.

A post reminded me one other thing that I love about my Dyson. I have teenage boys around that try to suck up everything with the vacuum and there is a bend in the hose going down to the canister. This part is detachable and makes it very easy to take care of clogged up hoses!
One thing I do hate though, and maybe this isn't a problem with the vacuum but a problem with my daughter's and my hair. Every six months or so, I have to sit down and cut the hair out of the roller part on the bottom. Than one gets kind of old.

I have the yellow ball Dyson.. LOVE IT! I had the purple animal before this. The animal was still going strong when I sold it. I have more hard wood than carpet so that is why I got the ball vacuum.
I don't have any complaints. Dh takes the canister outside and blows it out with an air pressure hose every now and then to clean it. I haven't needed to take scissors to the bottom of mine. It is 3 years old.

I'm glad to see all the positive comments about the Dyson. I have a Hoover that I paid about $50 for and have had it about 8 years. It's still going strong and no complaints, but it's very beat up and dirty looking. I'm going to be looking into getting a new one and was thinking about the Dyson. We have an indoor dog so I really want something that does good at getting up pet hair.
Mel ~ I have the same problem with hair getting wound around my beater bar on the vaccuum. I think that's a problem with all beater bars, but most people don't notice or care. I had to clean my mom's a little while ago and it was horrible. Her comment was that she never thought to look and see if there were things wound around it.

I have a Bissell Powerforce. I love it. We have had it about a year. It only cost $60 and works great!!! We had another cheap Bissell before this and it lasted about 7 years.
