Default Do you leave wet clothing in the washing machine overnight?

It happens here, sometimes. I try not to let it happen. My washing machine is a front loader and since it is airtight, the clothing starts to stink a lot quicker than a top loader. Especially during the summer months. Truthfully, I like having all the laundry from that day washed, dried, and put away but that RARELY happens.

i have done it twice in the last 20 years. the first time we went away over the weekend and i did not remember until we almost got home. the clothes had to be washed twice to get the smell out!
the second was over this past weekend.

I try not to do laundry too late in the day - I want it to have plenty of time on the line to dry. But sometimes I forget I've washed a load, and it has to be re-washed because it sours.

I have done it occasionally especially if we get busy and I forget. Ours is a front loader too and it does start to smell pretty quick.

I occasionally forget. When the kids are sick, I usually put the sofa pillows and blankets in at the end of the day.

Never!

Since I hate doing laundry to begin with, I make sure that I start and finish it fast. I would hate to have to redo a load because I left it in the washer overnight!

I could strangle dh for this. He did that, forgot about them, put them in the dryer and put them in the closet. I was putting on stinky shirts, it was rancid. ugh. Bad enough smell when your normal, but preg, it was horrible! LOL

~he's probably thinking "I got out of doing that job forever!" :-)

Honestly, I do this a lot. I will throw a load in before bed and then put them in the dryer when I get up. It is usually not a problem.

I think the smell is permanently in my washer now. LOL When I leave my washer closed with NO clothes in it, it stinks when you open it. LOL

But that said, I have a bad habit of doing this, but its not as bad as it used to be. And the clothes don't smell as bad in the winter as they do in the summer.
It was suggested that I use vinegar and rewash my clothes with it, but that doesn't work that well, to be honest. LOL They still stink, and have to be rewashed several times to get the smell out.

SO that said, I have worked REALLY hard at trying not to leave clothes in the washer. I do at least 1 load of laundry every morning when I get up that its done for the day, and I don't have to worry about it. I'm usually done with laundry before 9 am, and then I do whatever for the rest of the day. The 'whatever' usually includes more housework. LOL
