I had 2 iron infusions with co pays at $200 each~

I called the hospital directly ( their billing dept ) and asked what they would give me if I paid it off in full... a 25% discount!!!

DD also had 2 co pays of $40 each, and I asked for a discount, 10% off that bill.

AND I went into labor and delivery 2 weeks back, the bill was $150 copay and they gave me 25% off of that bill as well.

one thing I learned from this: call the hosp billing dept directly. I called the 800 # on top, I am assuming it was an answer service to take the charges and they are not at liberty to give discounts, and they were not going to give me one. So I called the local # and talked directly with hospital staff!

I saved about $150 today, well worth asking!!!

Before I had DS, I had been saving money to be able to pay cash for his birth, so when we went to register, I prepaid, in full with the same results, 25% discount!!
Then, to get him out of NICU, they called and told me the bill, and said that if I came down and paid it in full before he left, another 25%.
Wootwoootttt!
Always a good idea, thanks for reminding everyone!

That is great our hospital is the same here if we pay it before we are discharged we get 25% off and the dentist if we pay in full that day before we leave it is 15% off.

I've been getting 40-50% off medical expenses lately by paying cash up front. Things like blood work and MRIs.
