We use the LED lights that are supposed to use a lot less electricity than conventional lights.

Same here. And, ours are on timers, so they don't stay on all night. We live in a forested area, and the misty, foggy nights look even more magical with Christmas lights!

Me either.
Our bill goes up some once cold weather sets un because we use the heater, whereas we don't use the a/c much in warm weather, but I don't see any increase after we hang the lights from what it was before. We hang lights on the outside of the house, in the windows, and on the tree. We don't have the big cheesy illuminated snowmen and that sort of thing - just strings and strings of lights. I think it's the big stuff that really sucks the juice, not twinkle lights.

Ours goes up a lot for we love to decorate for Christmas - and I love C lights. All our neighbors' kids come to look at ours and on some days when we are home we let the kids turn on the lights.

I like lots of lights. So far this weekend I've put put up 9 strands of the C9's on the outside of the house. I still have 2 more to go. I know it's way to early for Christmas lights, but it's in the 60's and I'd rather put them up and not turn them on now than put them up when it's 20 degrees and snowing. Who knows how many I'll use in the trees and bushes, and I'll end up using probably 30 strands of lights inside the house.

I'll put up with the extra electricity costs for my one month of everything looking pretty.

We have some of the white icicle lights and we don't usually have them on that much but see quite a spike in our electric bill. Our December bill is generally $100 plus more than other months. Might look into the LED ones if they have the same style. I love the look but hate the expense. I know last year a lot less people put lights up than in years past in our area.

I quit doing the lights, because I hate taking them down! It is a pain the neck. Once I left them up for a whole year. Yes, I know, I'm in a Gretchen Wilson song.

I have always put up Christmas lights and never noticed much of a difference in my electicity bill. I don't leave the lights on but a few hours each evening though.
I think the time, effort and the few dollars more that it may cost is worth it. I love Christmas lights and I love to drive around with the family and look at lights. This year I probably won't put up as many because money is really tight and those few dollars do make a difference but I will put up a few. I love Christmas and all the festive decorations that go with it.
