I could care less about the cable. We haven't had it in years. I would have issues with the internet though. It sounds like you're picking up on someone else's internet without them knowing it and, in my book that isn't the right thing to do.

We got our cable shut off too. It has been a bit rough, I have a 1.5 yr old and a 2.5 year old, and I used cartoons to wake up in the morning...or get a break in the afternoon. But we have been fine. The shows I really want to keep up on, I just watch on hulu.

If it were me, I'd have turned off the cable when things first got tight.

Well I'm a person who doesn't have cable and who could easily afford it, so to me it makes sense to cancel it since you can't afford it. Cable is not a necessity. Right now you should be focusing on necessities first.

Except Hulu will be charging for their site starting January!

OH NO! I don't have cable and this is how I watch my shows some nights (when two shows are on at the same time) I have 5 local (non-paying channels).

-Please tell me how you heard about this.

I agree keep off the cable. we have had to turn ours off before for over 8 months but it was fine. we read more played more games ect.

Get one of those digital tv boxes at walmart when you get an extra 30-40 bucks and you can get more than just your local channels with it.

I heard Hulu was only going to charge for certain types of shows? I could be wrong.

Go without the cable. Here the library has a lot of show that are free for a week, if they are 'educational'. That includes any pbs, nickelodeon, Disney(not new release movies), or History channel show. But all the others are only 1.50 rental for 3 days. But I know other cities have all their dvds free like books.
