I am looking to save money....have changed the paper to Sunday only.....I get comcast for internet, phone and cable for $114.00 a month...dropping cable where we get free on demand kids shows...would be $35.00 a month....dropping the phone would be $38.00 a month as well......and I could rely on my cell phone though the service is not the best......

Then there is my Slomin's bill that is $25.00 a month....I am thinking of dropping this as I have the stickers in the windows......that I am told is a deterrent in of itself.........

Any thoughts on any of them? Cable is my last choice due to the free on demand kids shows.........

We don't have cable (get shows from the library for free) or home phone (use our cell phones - but if your service isn't reliable, don't rely on it!). Definitely saves us a ton.

Is Slomin's a home security? Personally, I think that's a waste of money, but a lot of people really value the feeling of protection.

I'd suggest calling and trying to negotiate your rates, and reducing your usage of things like water and electricity. Turn your thermostat down a few degrees, don't leave the water running etc. That sort of thing can really add up to a big difference.

Unplugging things when they aren't in use has cut $30 per month off my power bill.

Definitely unplug, especially rechargers. Use cold water as much as possible for laundry. Check your water heater setting. Turn off the shower to lather up and shave legs. Definitely bundle up and turn the thermostat down. Make sure lights are turned off as much as possible. Use LED night lite instead of lamp for small kids. When not at your pc but plan to use through the day, turn the monitor off. Those screen savers pull too much juice.

I am lucky I live where the temp is moderate this time of year and have not had the AC on since early Sep and have yet to turn on the main heat system in the house. I use natural gas for heat and have not had a bill since April. I also have ceiling fans in every room.

When you cook put multiple items in the oven or cook double batches and freeze the remainder. You will use the stove less and have something ready made if you've had a hard day and do not feel like cooking. Also do consequtive loads of laundry, takes less energy if the dryer does not cool between loads. I finally paid for the HE front load W/D set I have been using for a year. They save laundry detergent, water and dryer time as the clothes are nearly dry when they come out of the washer. Wash bulky items (blankets) first and let hang to air dry for a while, put in dryer last saving dryer time.

I do not have a cell phone. My kid has PAYG one incase he needs a p/u or left something at home. I bundle C, I, & T so no separate long distance bill. No pay per view or other high tier channels.
