What do you do?

We have a fake one we've had for years. So its paid its self off over the years. My neighbors threw theirs over the fence after they were done with it. It drove me nuts!

We don't really save on our tree, it is worth the annual splurge. dh takes it to the landfill for mulching when we're done with it.

We did a root tree one year but the ground is so hard we decided that it was not a good time to plant a tree.. lesson learned.

We have a fake tree. DH and I were given the tree by his aunt 6 years ago. We've had it since. I think possibly this year we might consider picking up a new one with the after Christmas sales but we'll see. Ours is holding up fine for now.

I've never considered buying a tree at retail price. If we did it'd have to be ATLEAST 50%+ off!

If we can't afford a cut tree, we have two potted evergreens on the patio that we bring inside and decorate.
After Yule, we donate our cut tree to the Coastal Restoration Project.

Use an artificial one. You can buy them on sale cheap after Christmas and use it for many years!!! Artificial ones don't affect my allergies either!

If I need an artificial tree, I definately buy it after the holidays, they go into deep discounts and you can get great deals on quality trees.

I put up several trees each year, but we always buy at least one real tree. I have to have a real tree - you can't beat the smell!

We do shop around a bit at surrounding tree farms. Last year they were really trying to get customers and prices were very competative. The closer to the 25th it gets, the lower the prices go (at least around here). We usually get our tree the weekend of Thanksgiving though. We do the whole thing where you tromp out into the 'forest' at the tree farm and cut your own. It's very Martha Stewart like when it's snowy and cold. And not so much when it's just wet or 60 degrees! LMAO! Fun...nonetheless.

We were lucky enough to be given an artificial one by an elderly woman who didn't want the hassle of decorating anymore. We will use it until it falls apart and buy another on post-season clearance.
