What kind of vaccuum cleaner do you have? What brand, upright etc. We need to but a new one. We had a piece of crap Bissell. I think it only lasted for about 3 yrs. or so, I don't think that's very long, a piece broke off of it and couldn't be repaired so needless to say we wont be getting another Bissell. We're looking for a bagless upright that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars. Right now we are using a really old upright that has a bag, no attachments and the cord barely reaches anywhere so it has to be unplugged several times. My MIL gave it to us, she got it at an auction. It's better than nothing but we need to get a new one. Also, what kind of attachments to yours have? I like the sucker hose thing on the side that you can clean out crevices etc. Does that make any sense? Gee, I hope I don't sound like a loon!!!

Thanks!!!

I have a bissel windtunnel bagless and I love it!! It has washable filters and cost me $79 2 years ago. It cleans great. I don't think I would ever get one of those really expensive ones again. I much prefer my cheapie, I has all kinds of tools too!

I have the Dyson (the ball), and I absolutely love it. I'm hoping this will remain our cleaner for long time to come.

I just bought an Eureka. I have been going thru a new vacuum about once a year. I went with a bag this time. I like to idea of a bagless- though it was just not working for me and the dust goes everywhere when you empty them.

I did a lot of looking and comsumer reports likes this Eureka- better than Dyson and Oreek.
It is the boss- smartvac and I bought it on Amazon- it was the cheapest and they had free shipping on it.

My SIL and neighbor also just got this one as well- it has a strong suction and I love it.

Well, I just bought a Hoover bagless windtunnel. It was a pretty high end one. It has wonderful suction, and I bought the 20 foot hose so I can do my stairs with it. It has on board tools and it is self propelled. I like it for the job it does, but I don't like the way it empties as well as my old dirt devil. If you want to pm me, I could maybe work out a deal with you if you are interested in this particular kind.

When we bought this house the previous owners had installed relatively new carpet but it is acrylic so it sheds like crazy. I haven't replaced the carpet yet BUT I have replaced my vacuum cleaners about every other year!

Right now, we have a Dyson Animal and I'm really liking it. It doesn't get clogged like my other vacuums and it really does pick up everything. I can use it on my hard surface flooring and not change any settings. It doesn't kick the dirt backwards like other vacuums on a hard surface floor. It really does suck up everything. The wand is also really nice because it stretches very far. I can vacuum my entire staircase without moving the base unit. I also do a lot of dusting with the vacuum because it picks up so much, so easily.

In addition, we own a much cheaper Eureka bagged vacuum and that has managed to keep going. We also own a Roomba which is sort of a fun toy - but an expensive one. I really don't use either vacuum very much since getting the Dyson.

How does your Dyson do with people hair? I've got long hair, and apparently I shed a lot. I clean the hair off the roller bar on our vacuum every time I use it, but it's still hard on the vacuum. I've heard people rave about the Dyson's job on animal hair, but no one's mentioned whether it can handle long-people-hair easily.

For some reason our bathroom attracts hair from all over the house. It isn't that hubby and I are shedding or anything but ...

Anyway, all I do is vacuum with the Dyson when I'm doing the rest of the house. I can pretty much vacuum the area rugs in the bathrooms with it easily - as long as I don't get too close to the edge of the rug. If you allow it, the Dyson will really suck up anything that is in it's path. The nice thing about items like area rugs, if it gets stuck in the rollers, it's easy to get the item unstuck and reset the rollers. With all my previous vacuums, if something got stuck in the rollers, the belt would get bucked loose forcing me to unscrew the bottom plate to put it back on. The Dyson apparently doesn't have a belt. Either that or it never gets bucked off.

Even though the Dyson doesn't have a bag, it doesn't aggravate my allergies when I empty it. It's really easy to remove the canister from the vacuum and carry it to the trash can outside. I then push a little button and the bottom of the canister drops open. All the dust falls directly into the trash and away from me! No problems.

I also have a Dyson animal and love it. My allergies are terrible and I love that it never smells or throws dust around. I've had it for 3 years and it still works great.

My hubby just mentioned the other day that he wants us to buy a new vacuum with our tax return. He also mentioned the Dyson, so I'm glad to know that it is so wonderful. We have 3 dogs and my long hair. Also, all 3 of my kids have allergies, so I think this would be great for us. I just really wanted to hear what you guys had to say about it, too.
