Does anyone know of a good recipe for toilet bowl cleaner? Something that is safe and effective?

I've heard of people using baking soda, or vinegar, or bleach.
I also read a tip once--if you have dentures, pour the water they soaked in if you used a cleaning tablet, and flush that.

My grandma always poured bleach in the toliets... I've never tried it but should work.

Vinegar and baking soda is what I usually use. Not only is it safe for the septic system (and environment) but the vinegar is a disinfectant.

You're going to think I'm crazy, but I've also heard that pouring flat Coke in the bowl (like the last of what's left in a two liter) will also work. The carbonation and acids in the Coke will eat away at any stains. Leave for an hour, scrub, then flush.

Here's something I just found...

Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Mix 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 cup vinegar, pour into basin and let it set for a few minutes. Scrub with brush and rinse. A mixture of borax (2 parts) and lemon juice (one part) will also work.

I use Borax and vinegar. Let it sit awhile and it works very well! Septic safe too!

I always use vinegar and baking soda too. I've also heard the tip about using flat soda although I've never tried it.

I once read that TANG works wonders to clean a toilet. It stated to put some Tang in the bowl and leave overnight and then scrub in morning for a toilet that sparkles.
