How old should you child be before sleeping on the top bunk? Would 4 1/2 be too young?

I think that 6 is the recommended age. My 4 yr. old still falls out of her bed, so for her I would say no. Her 7 yr. old sister was fine at that age. Use your best judgement, and also it depends on how good the top railing is. My BIL is building bunk beds for my nephews, and made really strong high sides on the top bunk.

We do not have them, Hopefully someone that does can offer better insight for you.
