This is from the book Magic Brands by Joey Green
Huggies Baby Wipes:
1. blot up spilled coffee from rug or carpet--they absorb coffe without leaving a stain
2. cleanse hands after pumping gas
3. store game pieces, cards, little toys
4. store crayons/markers
5. store craft supplies
6. store screws, nuts and bolts (if dh doesn't balk at these in the garage)
7. clean shoes
Toothpaste:
1. Put a dab on a toothbrush, brush rings, and rinse
2. Gets crayon off of wood floors, just put on a damp cloth and scrub away
3. Put an inch on your hands after cutting an onion and rinse off to get rid of the smell on your hands.

Toothpaste:
4. Put a small dab on a pimple at night before you go to bed and the pimple will be mostly gone by morning. This doesn't work with the gel kind. (I know this isn't a household cleaning tip, but I had to throw it in. )

Yay! I'm going to put one of those mini-sized toothpastes (that I get as freebies) in the kitchen drawer just for this use! I usually use vinegar, but it doesn't always get the smell off....
Thanks for the tip!

Toothpaste is also good for poilshing silver and cleaning scratches on CD's and DVD's
I always leave a masking Tape in the kitchen to use for labeling food that goes in the freezer.
Clothes pegs make a good toy for a toddler by putting them in empty bottles

How do you use the toothpast for removing scratches on DVD's? Do you just rub it on full strength?

White toothpaste will fill holes in light colored walls from nails for hanging pictures when you move the pictures to another place or are moving out (especially from a rental). It dries rock hard.

vinegar (about 1/4 cup to a large spray bottle) is the perfect window cleaner. i don't even buy windex anymore.
fabric softener sheets:
use one to dust everything. they keep dust from resettling.
when soaking pots, fill up the pot with warm (NOT hot or cold) water and drop a dryer sheet in. leave overnight. the pot should be way easier to clean the next morning.
put a sheet in smelly shoes. soaks the smell right up!
rubbing alcohol: gets the ink out of EVERYTHING!
my dog chewed an ink pen, and i had ink all over my beige carpet *EEK*. i poured rubbing alcohol on it and blotted with a clean cloth. took a long time, but i got up all the ink. now the carpet is perfectly beige again.
use rubbing alcohol to get ink out of your clothes (accidentally write on yourself with a pen? i do it all the time), furniture (my little one has decided that my couches make great easels), anything!
table salt.
take an orange, cut it in half. scoop the fruit out of the peel, leave the peel intact so it's like a mini bowl. fill it halfway with salt. sit it in an airy place. the salt soaks up the orange oils and the smell penetrates the air around...so your house will smell orangey
to clean fishtank algae. empty the water down to the amount you want to clean. pour a large amount of table salt into clean rag, wipe along the sides of the tank. the algae comes right off. rinse the rag, repeat. wipe off excess salt with the rag. refill the tank. now the salt that's left on the sides will penetrate the water and make a good salt bath for the fish living in the tank if it's a freshwater tank.
toothpaste.
makes a great jewelry cleaner. i love sterling silver. take an old soft toothbrush *make sure it's soft, silver scratches easily*, put paste on it, and work into the jewelry in a straight back and forth motion, not a circular one. lather, rinse, and repeat if neccessary to remove tarnish.
peanut butter. makes it easy to give puppy her medicine. my pit bull is on a daily medicine regime, but she hates pills. take a spoonful of peanut butter, smooth it onto bread. crush the pill, sprinkle on the peanut butter, fold the bread in half, and feed to pooch. will be the best tasting medicine ever
butter. removes bubble gum. slather on the skin that has the gum on it...wipe away. repeat until the mess is gone. also removes tree sap. slather it on the sap...soap and water, and rinse. keeps cheese fresh. take a light coat of butter and rub it on ALL sides of the cheese before you wrap it. keeps mildew from growing and also prevents the sides from getting hard (eww).

Use toothpaste to get permanant marker off white boards....use the paste toothpaste not the gel. Also when permanant marker bleeds through paper onto your counters use toothpaste and rub onto marker...comes right off....just rub rub rub.....it will come off ....

If your sterling silver jewelry gets tarnished use baking soda to clean it. Rub baking soda into jewelry with your fingers (beware your fingers will turn black) rinse and dry jewelry and it will look brand new.
