What do you wash your clothes in?

I wash darks in cold,
whites and bath towels in warm,
kitchen rags and towels in hot
cloth diapers when I use them in extra hot

Do you wash your darks in warm? I'm always afraid of the colors fading.

I just started using fabric softener in the wash, and I love it! But it's pricey. I've tried vinegar, but I can't seem to get the same soft effect. Same with dryer sheets. What do you use?

No....I never wash darks in warm! Ever! Actually, IMO, the dryer causes more fading/wear and tear than the washer. But I still wash in cool water! L.OL!

I wash linens, towels etc in hot water...

All clothing I wash in cool. It's just how I've always done it. I don't have any trouble keeping whites white or getting stains out or anything. Typically I let the washer fill for about an inch or so with hot water. I add my detergent and swish it around and then fill with cold. The water isn't ICE cold but it's cool.

I use dryer sheets sometimes (1/2 a dryer sheet because we find a whole one 'smells' too much). I don't find that they make a difference in softness though. I dry linens, t'owels in the dryer but most clothing, I dry for about 10 minutes and then I hang it on the line. A lot less wrinkles and less wear on my clothing. Dh has some really beautiful shirts for work and I'm not putting them in the dryer! Our clothes aren't crunchy either...

I wash everything in cold water, saves energy. Only when we have gross things like when we have a litter of puppies do I use hot water. I never use dryer sheets either

I also always use cold water. I do use dryer sheets, but I use the cheap ones from the dollar store or Big Lots. They work just as well as the full price ones. I can get a box of 50 for about a dollar.

I always wash in cold water. And I mix colors with whites too! Never did bother to seperate - unless its a brand new something in a dark color, then I wont mix the first time to make sure it doesnt bleed. But seriously, I wash by person. Everything gets thrown in together by each kid (DH and mine I wash together, sheets and towels are seperate) and the whites are white and the colors dont change.

I dont use dryer sheets anymore, the film it leaves on the dryer screen is crazy, so I just use dryer balls now.

And, I dont iron either! :-)

This is how it is done at my house too!! Too funny

Except jeans....I won't throw jeans in with whites or anything too "delecate".

But I do use dryer sheets....and I do iron.

I wash by person too. Makes folding and putting away easier for me(it's an OCD thing, i know). I wash towels and sheets in hot. Everything else is cold.

Try baking soda instead of vinegar as a softener. I can't use any fragrance stuff in my wash because of skin issues with two of our children.

I wash everything in cold except our down comforters which I was in warm. I use liquid fabric softener for linens, towels, blankets, etc....and dryer sheets for everything else.

I was almost everything in cool or warm. We have a well and our 'cold' water is so cold the detergent won't dissolve (even liquid detergent won't suds-up correctly if the water is too cold.) I just bought a new washer and it was very difficult to find a model that would warm up too-cold well water. I rarely have to use hot water on anything.

I don't use dryer sheets all the time. Sometimes I use both liquid fabric softener AND dryer sheets, though.

I rarely have problem with fading. Usually if I have a problem with black items getting dull, I wash them in plain water to remove excess detergent and that solves the problem. I also sometimes use my bio-degradable non-detergent liquid washing soap and that brightens up the clothes really well.

I tend not to iron anything. I spritz wrinkled items with water and hand press. Then I lay them flat or hang them up to dry and they come out looking like they were ironed.
