How do you have your house decorated? Are you an ecclectic? Have lots of antiques? More formal? Practical? Same color theme throughout or different color palates for different rooms? Tell us about it or show us!

Most people would probably say ecclectic. Although right now, it just looks messy! Aidan's room is Classic Pooh, the kitchen is roosters. The bathroom had burgundy tile on the wall, so I got a shower curtain to go with it, and used some Wallies to spruce up the wall. AFTER painting the one wall that the previous tenant had painted GREEN! All the walls are white, which is fine. I've done some stenciling in the living room just above the chair rail, and put up a chicken wallpaper border in the dining room above the chair rail.

I do have a few antiques, mostly glassware, although I have one table my grandmother gave me.

I would have to say cottage, beadboard on the walls, light airy colors and wood floors. I love flowers anything natural looking- I love old stuff -things that are one of a kind. I hate having anything that someone else has- decor wise that is. I want my home to feel kick your feet up don't worry about making a mess kinda home. I am constantly changing things around i am not one who likes things to stay in one spot for a long time!

Mine is just homey. Whole house in painted in khaki with white trim, but each room has a bit of a different theme, I guess. Living room is done in maroons, hunter greens and darker khakis, den is done in black leather furniture with more "stylish" stuff, I guess, kitchen is an assortment of polish pottery (love the stuff!), kids bedrooms are all done to their tastes (boys in boy stuff, baby girls in ballerinas and girly things, 10 year old dd has white wicker and preteen stuff, and the teenager, well, we won't even go there! LOL). My room is country...with lots of photos of my kids. Our bathroom, which is my favorite room of all, is done in elephants. I LOVE elephants. It is SO cute in there..and grown up, for once! The guest bath is done in elegant style...creams or linen and a very light purple, and kids' bathroom is yellow duckies! I think ALL houses should have one "quirky" room, and the duck bathroom is ours! I will try to get pics on here eventually of my rooms....nothing fancy, but comfortable nice.

I guess it kind of a romantic/country style. I have cream country ruffle curtains in my dining room and both living rooms. There are back to back couches to break up the room. We have a deep teal carpet with pink flowers on it. The carpet continues into the dining room but in that room it is outlined with pink carpeting that matches the flowers. There is a piano and fireplace in the dining room. I love pictures, really big pictures. They are all old fashioned w/ ladies in poofy skirts and lots of flowers. I have old trunks, old desks and antique type things around. There is probably too much of all of it, but I like all the peices so I couldn't part w/ any of them. I have doilies cabbage roses and angels everywhere.

My kitchen is done in fall colors. I have a tan tile counter and backsplash. Walls sage green, striped curtains & floral curtains with greens and brick reds and tan. The coolest thing in my kitchen is my hoosier.

My bedroom and master bath are done in a deep sage including the ceilings. Accents in cream. Bedspread and valences are cream crochet. My bathroom has a really cool huge picture over the tub. It's a path with trees on either side, it looks like you could walk right in.

The kids room is like a huge walk in mural w/ a painted tree in the corner that starts at the floor and continues onto the ceiling. Grass on the bottom, sky on top w/ clouds and glow in the dark stars. Dressers are painted to blend in w/ the scenary.

My poor dh, there really isn't a manly space in the house. It's all flowery and girly...lol

I once heard that if you had a piece of fabric or a pillow that you loved the color combination on then you could pull all the colors for your house out of that one thing. Well , that's what I did . My house has an open floor plan so all my colors had to coordinate. I had a pillow that had beautiful colors in it so I painted each room a different color out of that fabric. I new it would go together because it looked pretty on the pillow. My entry, living room and kitchen are a warm wheat yellow ,the den is a brick red and the dinning room is moss green. I have hard wood floors so I have large area rugs that pull all the colors together. My style is Italian or old world, I use a lot of wrought iron candle holders and metal pieces on the walls. I also read or saw on T.V. that you should always have a little black in every room. I have found that to be true accept in the kids rooms. I also think that the best art work is family photos...I have them every where. People spend lots of time looking at them when they come to visit. I also have a few antiques that have been handed down which always brings up lots of fond stories from the relatives. I think that a persons style and their home should be a representation of them self. It should reflect your personality and make you feel good. I would love to see pictures of other peoples homes...that's where I get my best ideas is from others. Is anyone interested in posting photos?

greetings,

I've always wanted to live in Florida. My husband won't move there. So, I brought Florida to Michigan. My house is an open floor plan decorated in Palm trees and flip flops.

That sounds so cute!! Our home is decorated in warm, cozy colors. Everything is very laid back, nothing too formal. We are putting down hardwoods in our great room this weekend and I can't wait to get some small hooked rugs to splash around. DH was like, "we are putting down hardwoods so you can put down rugs?!?!?" Men.

I would say mine is Ethnic. I try to have something from my country/culture in each room. So kitchen I have hand made straw platters on the wall. Bedroom, Islamic art pictures and scriptures. Living room, Islamic art, oriental rug. We have white walls and need to paint them before I decorate anymore.
