I had found that we wasted so many paper towels just b/c they were always there, so I quit buying them all together. I use white wash cloths to clean or wipe up spills. Is anyone as insane as I am? If so, how often do you wash them? I do have issues with mildew at times b/c I tend to just toss the dirty/wet ones in a dish pan that sits on top of the washer. So, I just bleach them periodically. I normally wash them with kitchen towels and napkins every couple of days.

What is your routine?

I use them, but very rarely. A roll of paper towels will last me several months unless we have a litter of puppies at the time! I basically only use them for lining the bowl when I deep fry something!! Otherwise I just use kitchen towel or dish rags. I toss them in the laundry after using them since I wash every other day anyway.

We buy paper towels! We do not use them for "personal use" as much as for business.....we use towels to wipe up spills, and other things, but because we are a licensed daycare, we need to have paper towels for the daycare kids to wipe their hands on after they wash them (or they would each need THEIR OWN cloth hand towel in each bathroom).

We have paper towels in the house. We use dish towels for most everything. I just went and bought more towels because my kids very rarely reach for a paper towel or napkin. I bleach them on average every 4-5 washes unless I used a towel to clean up meat juice.

we use rags, old towels that had holes in them or were really stained.

I purchase bar mop towels at Walmart, I think they are 5.00 for a pack of ten. I just throw them in the washer with bleach and hang them to dry. They are very durable and perhaps last a year or two. I use them for drying towels (dish towels) and dish cloths. i had seen it in an article in Martha S.

We always have a roll of paper towels, but we don't use many. I just always grab a dish towel, and when they get wet I have a towel bar in the laundry room I hang them on to dry until I can wash them. A roll of paper towels will easily last us 3 months. My mom teased me a couple years ago b/c I had Xmas paper towels still at Easter, she thought I'd stocked up on them on clearance, but I hadn't, that one roll just lasted that long.

I use a kitchen towel to dry my hands in the kitchen, another one to wipe down the counters (then I use a Clorox wipe)...I change them daily (sometimes more than once). I bought TONS of them at IKEA...they work great. They're all white and I use bleach when I wash them. I actually prefer them over paper towels. I do use paper towels to clean the outside of the toilet...I'm trying to think where else I use them...hmmmmm?

I use mostly cloth towels, except when I am cleaning up something like meat from the counter. Then, I spray the counter with cleaner and wipe up with a paper towel. That way I do not contaminate the wash cloth. I also use paper towels on the toilet. Other than that, cloth all the way.
