I usually buy my towels and linens at Target or Walmart. The problem is they never last. I'm considering investing in some quality towels and sheets. It kills me to pay the $$ for them though. I've checked out the local overstock and outlet shops but everything there is junk. Any advice on where to buy top-quality, but inexpensive towels, linens, etc.?

I like Bed Bath and Beyond for a lot of towels or sheets...they have good sales, good coupons I like Wamsutta for sheets. I'm converting a lot of my towels to just plain white ones, so I've been watching for good deals. All my towels from our wedding, gosh almost 15 years ago, are still going strong though! They're Ralph Lauren...and believe it or not, they're really not that expensive. You can get them online and at a lot of different dept stores, just have to keep your eyes peeled.

A few years ago, I picked up some Martha Stewart egyptian cotton towels from Kmart. They do sales on the towels all the time, so they are cheap! But the towels are great quality! I've had mine a few years, and theyre still just as bright and soft as when I purchased them. No problems.

Good luck!

It's funny the way some things work well for some folks and not so much for others...the way of the world I suppose! I bought some Martha towels and they were the worst towels I've every bought...they frayed and unraveled and got little pulls on them. Same for her sheets, I thought they were just the worst quality and kicked myself for straying to KMart! L.OL!

I just remembered, when we were in Switzerland, Ikea was the cheap place to buy almost everything and I bought a lot of bath towels for the kids there...they were about $4 for a bath towel and they're still going strong. So if you have an Ikea near you, that might be a place to check out.

I've always had good luck with JCPenny towels and they go on sale regularly.

I've always gotton mine from either Bed Bath & Beyond or Linen N Things. When using the coupons, they actually aren't that expensive. I've been using the same towel since we got married 10 years ago.

There is always a 20% off coupon for Linens & Things or Bed, Bath and Beyond in the newspaper (and after you shop there, you will get coupons in the mail).

I also got some good deals on overstock.com. They have great S&H rates so you can really get some good stuff pretty cheap. Just make sure to check out the ratings and feedback from others -- that helps greatly on weeding out the crap.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone. I buy all my bath towels at Costco. They are fantastic. I've had some towels for YEARS - like a decade or more!

As for bed sheets, I only buy Macy's 400-thread count High Country when the king sheets go on sale for $59 a set. I don't buy a higher thread count because they disintegrate too quickly (and cause dust) and I find a lower thread count too rough. I might try a set of the new bamboo sheets from Bed Bath and Beyond - getting a set for hubby and me for Christmas - so I can't recommend them yet but they sound and feel wonderful.

Do you have any flea markets near you? During this time of year, many areas have flea markets and at large ones, you can find all kinds of brand new products at bargain prices. My favorite towel sets came from a flea market before I headed off to college 8 years ago! They are still thick and soft and held their color well.
