Time to make appointments for those annual furnance tune ups and checks!!! We always make sure we do this. Once we didn't and mice (we did not know we had) decided to store corn in the boiler part of our hot water furnance!! Needless to say we had a bit of an explosion when we turned it on

Also, I was wondering if anyone else has the service plans with their utility company where they get a free (well we pay for it all year!) check up?

I'm not sure if we have anything like that thru our utility company that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I will be sure to check the filter before i start the furnace for the season, which i hope isn't until October, but it never seems to work that way.

we have a fuel oil furnace and a guy that comes every couple years. he taught my husband how to change the oil burner filter and burn off the fuel oil to keep it in working order so dh has already done that and he has it all vaccumed out and we change our filters monthly already since the air has been on and then we will go to heat soon. we also have our fuel oil so we are ready to go
