I had to use my A/C last month (August) since it got so hot.. pretty much most of the month. My electric bill was around $66, waaay high for me. So in September, I didn't use my dryer at all or my A/C. I hung all my clothes outside during the day and/or inside. I just got my bill and it is $37!!

Also, last month, I somehow paid $22 extra on my phone bill, believe me, I don't know how I did that! This month it is only $33!

I'm so thankful!! I really like low bills!

I would LOVE for our bill to be $185! Here is S. Cal our bill usually hovers between $250 and $350 for a 1300 sq. ft house plus a small inground pool. Unfortunately we have to run our pool pump a minimum of 4 hours per day to keep the algae and bacteria at bay.

We could have everything turned off for a month and our bill still would not be as low as $66! Last months bill was $303 - and we only used the a/c sporadically not every day. Just rec'd the new bill and its $205 I believe -- and thats with NO a/c, nothing extra other than our every day usage. Sad, very very sad.

WOW! How do you pay those bills??! I was freaking out when it was $66!! It normally is somewhere around $45 most months.. I am going to try and hang as much as I can and not use my dryer so much.

I also use the Compact Flourescent Bulbs in every room but except in ceiling fans and dining room.

My DH works from home so it is hard to get my bill lower and I would kill for one anywhere near $66! Mine currently hovers in the $250 range and thats with keeping the a/c at 77-78 during the day.

Your post about the clothes line did inspire me to contact my homeowner's association about changing the by-laws to allows line drying. I used the environmental impact angle and they were keen to help me out and stated they were considering changing the laws bc of that. Let's hope it works!

With August being our hottest month of the summer here, our bill was $149.05...which is pretty good here....and the lowest for this month of the year that we've had in three years. The only time our electric bill is that low is when it's the coldest part of the winter, as we have gas heat....that's it. way to go.

I am on budget for $92.00 a month. I do like to hang out clothes when I can but the month of August was humid or wet.

Good for you, the only time our monthly electric bill was that low was 18 yrs ago when we lived in an apartment. Good for you!
