I do not have the time to hang anything!! I do dry on low heat. I hung clothes out when I was a young mom. Now that I am oler and have a LARGE family, I figure I have earned the right to use the dryer. Also, I don't like the stiff feeling of clothes hung to dry.

Most everything gets dried in the dryer. A few things that I know shrink get hung but that's it.

I dry everything, except bras and nice undies, and mattress pads, which I dry partially. Here in AZ, it's just too dusty to hang out, and I don't have room to have clothes hanging. I tried a clothes rack once, but didn't care for the stiffness in the clothes. The dryer makes them softer. I grew up in the country, and my stepmother and mom hung everything out. Hated it - froze in the winter, bugs and dirt in the summer, plus the labor alone, when we started doing it as we got older - killer on the back and shoulders! Plus, where I live, the HOA would not allow a clothesline. My mom now uses a dryer, but still prefers her sheets dried outside.

I hang dry almost everything. Play clothes, my dh's work jeans, t-shirts, towels, sheets, socks, and underwear I dry in the dryer. Our clothes look newer longer and they hold the smell of my fabric softener better. I think drying clothes fades them out quicker for some reason. I hang dry them inside the laundry room, I don't have a clothes line outside which I would like. I think my St. Bernard might drool on them though, eeewww.

I hang dry just about everything, including underwear and socks. The only time I dry something is like bed sheets or if I do a full load of underwear and socks, but even then, I usually hang those. Of course, I don't have 8 people in my household, but I do work full time. I try to wear my clothes more than once, if not so dirty or sweaty or icky feeling.. lol
It really saves on the electricity bill. This past month, my bill was about $35-$40 less than what it normally is for August. I think that had a lot to do with it.

I have a friend who says I am the most domestic person she knows. She laughs at me because I hang everything out to dry. We live on the corner of a busy road, so everyone can see my clean clothes. She says I should have been born in the 40's or 50's.

I also don't like the crusty feeling either, Besides our back yard isn't that private and I don't like the way it would make our house look.

Most stuff I do, but if I'm worried about shrinking or fading, it goes to the dryer for 20 mins then onto the rack....I just don't think I'd have time to hang dry everything. Or the space! We don't have a clothes line so it would all have to be inside.

I would hang dry all the time, too, if I had a clothes line. My subdivision does not allow them- grumble. I guess you and I could have been neighbors in the 50s, LOL
