I was cutting them in half but I thought it would be easier just to use one whole one twice.

I actually cut my into 6 pieces. I only use it for static in clothes, not the smell.

I don't buy them at all. i use worn out washcloths and put a bit of liquid fabric softener on them and toss them in with the dryer load. Works great. You can use the same rag a bunch of times then you just toss it in with the laundry when you think it's dirty.

Personally, no one at my house even noticed when I stopped using fabric softner all together. So I save money by not buying them at all!!
