Save your money and buy generic, most of these items will contain the same ingredients as name brand (drugstore items) Buy off brand products, generally they are the same as the big national brands.
we buy a lot of generic. i usually try to buy what's healthier (no trans fat, lower in sugar, etc). things like pasta and flour don't seem to be different label wise, just in price.

Most of the "big- name brand cos" make the generic foods for these people.
My friends MIL worked for sunkist tuna and the also would use the same tuna and put it in store brand cans. She said you can tell who makes what by looking at the jar/can tops. The machines do not change so if the generic top has the same amount of rings on the lid then it is made by the same brand name co. (does this make sense)?
I try to do the sale/coupon thing too. It is hard with medicine, because I always run out when the kids really need it. We always break the budget if the kids get sick. We just want to make them feel better and what we ned is rarely on sale.
With medicine, I get great deals at Walgreens on their generics. They put them on sale B1G1 free and I stock up, they are already cheaper than the name brand, then you get one free!
