Am in search of the perfect mopping solution. Currently have the old mop and fill the sink and have to run back to the sink every few minutes to rinse. Doesn't seem like it does a very good job and it is obnoxious! Looked at the swiffer wetjet I believe...looks like it would be good in theory, but they get you with paying a ridiculous amount for the wipes and the solution. The reviews had lovers and haters. Wanted to see if anyone here had a better way of doing business. Floors are my pet peeve and my least favorite task!! Thank you.

I don't like the wetjet...it just didn't get wet enough for me and I didn't like the smell of the 'cleaner'. I use a bucket and a regular sponge mop and it works great for me!

I was looking for the perfect solution too for wood floors. With a 2 yr old we have to mop almost every other day. The wet jet does not get wet enough for me either! Oregano what cleaner do you use in the sink to mop? Anyone have a cleaner they LOVE?? TIA

I have been using Bonakemi - available in LNT and others such kind of stores. It does an awesome job.

I am also planning to try the vinegar solution.

I use vinegar/water solution for all our wood floors. For tile, I use liquid Mr Clean, Spic N Span etc in water. I have a different mop head for each type of floor, so I woudl never use the 'tile' mophead on wood floors and vice versa. I'm weird that way! LOL!

I also have brooms marked for different areas, like the broom I use in the garage is labeled "garage" and is not to be used anywhere else! My inside broom never goes outside. My basement broom, doesn't leave the basement.

I use the Clorox mop (equivalent to the Swiffer Wet Jet) because it's more sturdy. The Swiffer broke on me.

For my money, the most effective way to clean a floor is on my hands and knees. I think that is what gives the best results. The problem is it is so labor intensive. That is how I clean my bathroom floors but my kitchen floor is HUGE so I do the disposable clothes.

For my money, the disposable clothes don't stay wet enough either. I supplement the solution with a spray on all-purpose cleaner from a hand-held squirt bottle. I'll also pre-spot areas of the floor with that stuff.

Sometimes I'll use a multi-floor spray cleaner that I think is made by Pledge. It is a blue bottle. That tends to leave a little more shine on the floor. I have laminate.

I will have to try the vinegar on my floors. We just moved into our new home and have asphalt tiles in the landing area - which have lots of grooves. It doesn't seem that they were ever cleaned before, and I spent over 2 hours the other night scrubbing about 5 tiles trying to get the grooves clean. I used about 5 different types of cleaner, but none of them seemed to get it clean. Any other ideas in case the vinegar doesn't work? The grooves are big enough that the sponge, and scrubbie thingy got into them, it just wasn't getting the dirt out.
