I am on a mission to cut our heating bills this winter. DH and I decided that a programable thermostat should help. Since I am now working, no one will be home most days, so we are going to lower the temp a few degrees and also lower it at night. Hopefully, dh can get it installed this weekend since we had to turn the furnance on today (yes, we just had the air on 3 days ago ) I was shocked at how cheap they are. Ours was only $39 and there were cheaper ones available!!! I should be able to more than save that in a month or two

We bought one a few years back and it's definitely worth it. We turn ours back during the day whether we're home or not, and have it set to kick the furnace in around 4 pm when the kids get home from school.

I'm glad to see we are not the only ones who just had their AC running a few days ago and now had to turn on the furnace!

even with me being home during the day it still saves. whenever I am out running errands I turn it down. when we go out of town we adjust it to come on 30 minutes b4 we come home. plus dh gets up b4 everyone by 1.5 hrs so we have it turn up a couple degrees for him and then it goes back down until the rest of us get up.

I love ours too!!! Somehow, the month of August 2006, our electric bill for our 1100 sq. foot house was $308!!!!!! I thought I would croak, we had never even spent $200 on it before!! (Honestly, i think they read the meter wrong, but that's a whole other story). We put it in shortly after that, and this year's August bill was a whopping $145. Very very inexpensive, considering August is the hottest, most humid time of year here in texas!
Ours (we are still using AC here, although it was a wonderful 60 degrees this morning!!) is set at 74 during the night (7p-7a) and 78 during the day (weekdays and weekends, it's not bad) (7a-7p). It keeps our bill pretty managable. With our highest being Septembers at $149.05. I can do that! If I see another $300+ bill, I might die...lol.

we love ours it paid for itself the first year. we normally would go thru 1 3/4 tanks of fuel oil for the winter and the last two years we have gotten by on one. we still turn it down during the day when i'm home just not as low as at night. but it really helps. ours even tells us how many times our furnace was on and for how long it ran.

I can't tell you how much we have saved, but I do LOVE it!!! We got it a couple of years ago with new furnace and I love that it is digital too, as opposed to the old type were you turn a dial to get warm. And I LOVE waking up warm, having it kick on 1/2 before we get up! It is the little things that keep me happy!

I love ours also. This way,we do not have the thermostat wars lol.I also like not having to worry about adjusting the temp.Every once in a while,we do override it but only here and there.
