Try eliminating all sources, maybe wiping down walls near the stove and your filter in the vent above the stove. Then put out a few bowls of vinegar. I've read it works. It'll either work or deaden your sense of smell.

Lol Im cheap. We have a large garden filled with roses. In the wamer months I just open all the windows to let in a breeze as I hate a stuffy house and have my main rooms with flowers in.
In winter, which does not get too cold - I just make sure a few windows are open during the day.

Wow so many great ideas for me to try, I think some of these ideas I will take with me to work also. I work on a male dormitory and they will appreciate any help they can get in this area.

I have stopped using all candles and smelly good things that only smell good for a short time. I stock up on scented Lysols. We have a house full of animals and the Lysol actually makes it seem like we have no animals while it is disinfecting the rooms!

Except that horrible horrible overwhelming fake cinnamon smell. It makes me itch just thinking about it. As long as the food smells aren't overwhelmingly spicy or perfumey they don't bother me either.

I try and keep the house clean as much as possible so there is always a faint smell of Lysol. I like candles a lot. When I can a stock up on the glade ones-I use my employee discount and if I time it right, I can use coupons on double coupon day and get them for about $1.50 each. Also baking is a great way to have the house smell good.

I get headaches from artificial scents, and they just smell like a cover up to me anyway. So my solutions are 1)if you don't cook meat, your garbage doesn't smell. If you do eat meat, take out the garbage every day. 2) bake bread, coffee cake, or cookies, especially when expecting guests. 3) bring in flowers from the garden when in season: pine boughs work the rest of the time, even if it's not christmas 3) as Peg Bracken, author of the I Hate To Cook Book wrote, fry an onion. It smells encouraging even if you haven't really started cooking supper yet. (That one always cracks me up!)
4)open the windows! Gail

Last year I splurged and got a rosemary plant and a couple of lavender plants to put in my garden. They were fun to watch and grown and they always smelled to good. When the winter time came, I panicked at them just dying in the garden. So I found a couple of long potting containers in the garden section of the dollar store for a 1.5 each and transplanted them. I then put the rosemary and lavender in my kitchen--- and everyone that walks in is really hit with the freshness of the smell of the lavender and especially the rosemary. It's also handy for making a rosemary chicken. I had originally brought them in for the winter, but I'm seriously considering keeping them inside year round since they have done so well potted and in my kitchen.
