Turn off the oven the last 5-10 minutes of baking/cooking time and leave the door closed. The oven will maintain it's temperature just fine.

When I am cooking with the oven on .... I always plan my meal so the sides are cooked as well. For example, meatloaf with scalloped potatoes and roasted veggies. That way I do not need to use the stovetop as well. Plus you can always adda couple of potatoes for baked potatoes on another day or make hashbrowns YUMMY!

Also before i had a lil one, i always left the oven door open after i was done using it to help with heating the kitchen up. We didnt have a register in our old kitchen.
