With just me, DH & 2 yr. DS it takes a few days to collect a full load of darks or lights. And our water doesn't allow me to just wash everything together in cold water, like I did back where I grew up. But I bought Shout Color Catchers and they work great! I can throw my darks in with my whites, wash on cold water cycle, and they come out just fine. I normally add 1 sheet, except for when I'm washing new dark clothes, then I add in a 2nd one. I also add about a 1/4 cup of white vinegar to keep the colors from fading. It's been so nice to only have 1 load of laundry, at most, per day for the past week or so. I detest when it builds up and I can't keep up with it.

I like those too! Especially when you have a new red shirt or something you may think will bleed color. They are great and can also go right in the dryer afterwards.

Me too! Saved many a mistake, and great with the clothes that are half dark, half light. Great invention.

The other thing I like is the little box of Lavender packets from Trader Joes. I put them in the dryer with my sheets, blankets, towels and pillowcases for a relaxing sleep and shower end. They are very inexpensive, in comparison to other specialty things on the market. Love the smell of fresh sheets.

I love those things! I separate my wash but always put one in if I am suspicious something will run, or if I have one dark thing to wash and the rest is colored, etc. I also cut them in half and they still work fine.
