We just got these and I have a question. Do you prefer the good old fashioned dust mop, or a Swiffer? Does it really make a difference? Any thoughts?

I have tried both, plus just sweeping. They both work pretty well, but there is always something that they won't pick up. I just vacuum mine now- my vacuum has a bare floor setting, but I just use the regular carpet setting. I have wood floors... it doesn't seem to be hurting them, and the vacuum gets them much cleaner.

We just got wood floors and I find I prefer the old fashioned broom best.

I think the broom does the best job for getting up dirt.

As for mopping them I have found two things that I love. One is large, flat head mop that came with a terry cloth cover. I use a solution of 1/2 windex 1/2 water (recommended by the installer) spray it on and mop it off. The flat head of the mop works great.

I also recently found a product made by Orange Glo. The sweeper is similar to a swiffer but it came with 3 different covers (terry cloth for mossping, lambs wool for dusting , and another for polishing) I have had great luck with it.

Both of these are easy to use and then I just throw the covers in the washing machine. Lots cheaper that swiffer refills!!!

We also just installed these over the summer and I just use a broom everyday to keep up the loose stuff and just spot clean with a rag for everyday spills. I also just posted in another section about how I was at Lowes to buy the "Pergo" cleaner and asked the vendor if I could use vinegar and he said that that is what he would use! So, I will be using vinegar to mop with! I love my floors! They stay so much cleaner the the other stuff we had!
