Does anyone know of an easy way to get rid of ants in the house. They are everywhere and I can't get them to go away. I think the current drought has brought them indoors looking for water - but I'm not ready to leave out a bowl of water and welcome them

I have heard that you can put steel wool in the crevaces where they come through - but these rascals are coming through the electric outlets. Don't think I'll try steel wool in there!

I have tried vinegar - but it only kills the ones I spray directly.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Try vasealine gel- they will not cross that
also what worked well for us was buying ant sticks and placing them around the house outside.
My friends swears by sprinkling borax or baby powder- they also will not cross that.
Good Luck

In a small bowl, like a fruit cup or something, combine borax and sugar. Then leave the bowl near where they come in or where you see them the most. They will be attracted to the sugar, eat the borax too, and take it home with them. It will kill them all in no time. Just be sure to keep the bowl away from kids and pets. I promise this will work and you'll be ant free within 3 days.

I tried all the home remedies I could find when I had ants in the spring. But I found that the bug spray Hot Shot worked great. I got mine at Home depot but I think I saw it at walmart too. It is safe to use if you have kids. I srayed my entire house and I haven't seen any bugs of any kind for the past 4months. Stupid me sprayed outside the house to. But it is a killer not a repellent so. Our front porch would be covered in bugs each morning for a good three weeks we had our own bird feeder out there.

We put terro out. The ants eat it and take it back to their hills and kill them all!! Works great. Just make sure you set it out when kids and pets are not around.

Luckily we haven't needed this in awhile, but our old house must have been built on the corprate headquarters for ants.

I think this is made by ortho, but I'm not positive. Anyway, they are little cans/pots (look kind of like skoal cans, but made of metal). They come 2 in a pack and you pop out the tabs and set them out on the counter or wherever. They work!!! We found them at Lowes, often times hanging on the end of a rack.

We tried other things, but these were the only things that worked.

I had tried all the home remedies with no effect on the ants and finally resorted to the Ant Terro. I got it at Ace Hardware, it was in little "traps". I placed it in the areas I'd seen ants, but away from where Aidan or the pets could get to it, and after a few days, NO MORE ANTS!
