I have been using cloth napkins for years (10+). I sew my own kitchen curtains and always buy extra material to make napkins to match. Cut them 15 by 15, turn under the edge and run it down. I'm not a sewing fan but I know these save money so I don't mind doing it. I usually make 15 at a time and almost never run out before wash day. They sit in a basket on the table and we take them as needed. I have tried serging the edges on my s-i-l's serger but I find they hold up longer with the folded over edge.

It is good to have a couple napkins around for food prep and grease removal.
Just an "FYI"....we needed a new vacuum desperately so we got the Bissel Pet Hair eraser ($150 at Lowe's-we were ordering new carpet at the same time) and I absolutley love it. We have a golden retriever and lots of hair as well

We also use cloth napkins as well as cloth wipes and cloth diapers. My mother uses paper towels ALL THE TIME even to blow her nose and it drives me NUTS!!

I love the idea of cloth napkins everyday. I don't have any on hand, so I didn't want to try it. I like the idea of making my own. I always buy the cheapest napkins and they don't work well but I don't want to pay $3+ for paper napkins. I think this will work out well.
