I seen the vinegar question before. I just realized I have home remedies on all stuff from home that you can be used for other things. I will try to do a new thing everyday if Mommysavers are interested.

Vinegar uses

-remove wallpaper - spray on for 15 minutes then peel off

- weed killer - spray apple cider vinegar in sidewalk cracks or in gravel to kill grass or weeds

- remove furniture rings - remove water stains with 1 part vinegar and 1 part olive oil

- cat urine - cover area with baking soda then pour an equal amount of vinegar. This will neutralize the odor and keep cat out of this area

- claen a corroded shower head - boil the shower head in 1 part vinegar and 1 part water until lime is removed (20-25 min.). Tie a bag filled with white vinegar aound the faucet/ shower head remove the following day

- slow pastering from hardening - add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to plaster mix.

- remove salt stains from leather shoes - buff them with soft rag and diluted water and vinegar solution

- shower maintenance - keep a spray bottle full of vinegar in shower. After last shower taken spary vinyl shower curtain and walls to control soap scum and hard water stains

- clogged drains - pour 1/3 box of baking soda down drain then vinegar. rinse with boiling water

- kill fleas on dog - add teaspoon to your dogs drinking water to prevent fleas

- clean the toliet - weekly soak toliet with vinegar

- ant repellent - pray vinegar in the areas of where ants are found

- stop laundry lint - add a cup of white vinegar to rinse cycle

- set new clothing color - soak clothing in 1 part of vinegar and 3 parts water before washing

- carpet cleaner - put 1 part of vinegar in with your carpet solution for a brighter rug

- lundry brightener - add a cup of white vinegar in with clothes for a brighter bleach free look

- remove wax buildup - use full strenght vinegar to remove wax

- soften a paintbrush - soak them in hot water and vinegar

- extend life of cut flowers - add 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 2 tablespoons of syrup to a quart of water

- static cling - 1/3 sup of white vinegar to rinse cycle

- prevent frost on car window - clean windsheild 3/4 cup of white vinegar and 1/4 cup of water

Vinegar is a great thing to have around the house. Very handy.

Vinegar does make a good weed control but instead of mixing my own I used Deadeye weed killer, and had really good results with it. I didn't want to mess with mixing my own.

Vinegar works so well for cleaning, too! I hadn't heard of some of the uses you talked about but like it for the tub/shower and for cleaning windows.

Do CREATIVE minds think alike?

I have little tiny ants for the first time and I have tried vinegar and new ones keep coming in. I spray everywhere I see the ants. I leave it there to dry and a little while longer here come more ants. I am using straight vinegar-no water added to the spray bottle. I bought some ant traps last night and so far I do not see them disappearing.

is vinegar good to use on hardwood floors?

I still have ants in my kitchen. All food is bagged up (cereal, chips, etc) and up in the cupboards. I cant get rid of them. Still using straight vinegar. I am about to give up. Any other ideas??? I am looking for more homemade remedies.

and one of my FAVORITES is a vinegar hair rinse that i make using vinegar, distilled drinking water, and essential oils (you don't need the oils to get great results). the rinse removes dandruff and dirt from the hair and neutralizes the scalp to prevent itching! it works wonders on extreme dandruff conditions in some people, and it is a wonder treatment for those with very thick, course, kinky hair and locs!

just mix 1/2 cup of vinegar with 2 cups of water...pour on the hair, and massage into the scalp. then let it dry. it will NOT smell once your hair dries. if you have essential oils, they will leave a fragrant smell in the hair once dry!

or you can do like i do...1/2 cup of vinegar to 1 cup of water, let sit on the scalp for 10 minutes, then just DOUSE the hair with clean water, and let dry!

This isn't homemade but it is very effective for ant control. Our Orkin man told us to use Windex and it works everytime. We do have to continue to use it as the ants find new paths into the kitchen and cupboard. But once we spray an area it seems that they don't come back. That was last year. So far we have no ants this year.
