I learned this tip from watching tv. unplug your electrical items because the draw energy when not in use.

For example, if I know that we will be leaving early in the morning and don't plan on returning until late I will unplug my electrical items (except the refrigerator - of course)

Another action that I am doing is that I unplug all the electrical pulling things in my son's room while he is away in college. I figure everything helps

One hot/humid days I keep the curtains and windows closed during the day while I'm at work, and the AC set high, programmed to cool off once we're home.

By keeping the house closed up during the day, it helps keep the humidity out even if the AC isn't running. Some like to keep the windows open while they're gone during the day BUT it takes a lot more energy for the AC to remove the humidity and cool the place down once the windows have been open all day!

We don't have a problem how to get cool while saving money. Our house is 30 minutes drive away from the free beach. Sometimes when my family are free we used to get there together. The beach i safe don't worry.
