i use a dishwasher because i hate to hand wash i do one load a day i put everything i can in that thing...

my grandma always hand washed hers(she did have a dishwasher) she would only put about 2 inches of scalding water in the sink wash them all then rinse them and set to dry on racks.. thats just how she did it i know when i washed her dishes i probably used twice as much water lol.

We had an old portable dishwasher that a couple of years ago I told DH to shove it in the utility room somewhere or he'd have to explain to the landlord why it had disappeared when we eventually move out! The thing was atrocious. Two hours tying up the sink to run a normal load. I've been happily washing by hand ever since.
