Hi everyone, hope you can help me out. I've recently been suffering a lot with my allergies so I want to buy a good vacuum. I've been looking at buying a Dyson but I was wondering if you knew of any budget vacuum cleaners which filter out nasty allergens?

My experience with vacuums and allergies -- which I suffer from unfortunately -- is that you get what you pay for in the long run.
I went through a series of less expensive vacuums which were OK, but didn't last too long. (I had a Hoover, Dirt Devil and a Bissell -- that I can recall.) I thought they were doing a decent job with the dust and allergens too.
Then I bought my Dyson -- let me tell you there has been a world of difference. My house seems MUCH better as far as my allergies go -- less irritation. I think my carpets are just cleaner and don't hold as much stuff in them. I also take that long hose and really get the vents and stuff better than I was able to do before too so I know that helps!!

Thanks for the quick reply LawDawg. I expected that was the case! I've been looking on the Dyson Spares page and there is something called a "Hepa post motor filter" am I right in thinking that that is the bit I need?

This would be included if you bought the vacuum, no need to buy it separately.

I love my Dyson. To save money I used the 20% off coupon and bought it at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
