A neighbor recently got this service and, I must admit, it is very appealing to me. It is an upfront cost, but in just over 9 months, it would have paid for itself by eliminating our monthly phone bill. (Based on the amazon.com price)

I have often wanted to get rid of the land line in our house, but the 911 feature is important to us as well as phones during hurricane times. Plus, we could get features on our phone that I refuse to pay for currently.

Anybody have this?

That was cheaper than I thought it would be. Have your neighbors had any problems at all with it? When I went with Comcast phone service I found out that certain people could not get through to my phone. I had a friend who could never get through to me on my phone, and she couldn't get through to her mother who lived right next door, who also used comcast. I decided I couldn't miss phonecalls, and had to get rid of it.
If Ooma didn't have those problems, I might consider it. I just really need the 911 feature. Do 911 calls not go through, or is it just it might not work during a storm, and the 911 operators wont know where your call is coming from?

From what they told me it is regular 911, not E911 or anything. They have had no problems, but it has only been two weeks. So far, they love it.

I just need reliable phone service in case of a storm. Of course, we have cell phones and car chargers.
