My dh has been selling a bunch of his model railroad supplies online. He needed some packing peanuts, so we went to Office Max to look for some. Man are they spendy!!! The also sell recycled packing materials, which seems like a good idea, but costs a small fortune So we went back home where I got out the paper shredder and shredded a stack of old school papers of the kids. Dh got a whole big box of packing materials absolutely free!!!!! And it is recycled

I wish I could send you my peanuts lol I ordered a small item, which came in a box FULL of peanuts like 50 times the size of the item I ordered....

The only thing with shredded paper, it is a tad heavier than the peanuts, but still great to use!

I love your idea -- so resourceful! I still haven't bought a shredder, but you're giving me ideas!

I've read that packing materials are often listed on freecycle. People move and then have all the packing materials left over. It might be worth a look.
