I love Mommysavers!!! After reading all the great advice and putting it into action my electric bill went from $270. to $185. I am so excited. It was alot of hard work getting the whole family to cooperate but it was well worth it! Thanks everyone for posting great tips. Those little things really work!!!

In our household our bill was lately running 175.00. I knew before we could get it to $120.00 but that took some work. I did buy some of the light bulbs but other than being really on top of it we are now consistently running $95.00 a month. I did (bribe) enlist my children in the mission. If we keep the bill under $100, we plan a special family night. The kids are trying so hard and shutting off lights and radios all the time. Each month they can not wait to see what the bill says. They are only 8,4 and 2. The two year old just shuts lights off he doesn't understand or get excited for the bill. Thank you Mommysavers for helping us too.

So, you're saving $80 a month just by changing light bulbs and shutting off t.v.s and radios and such?? If not, what exactly are you doing? That seems like a big chunk to save by just changing a few habits.

For my household, I changed all the light bulbs as well. We turn off the lights, radio, tvs, computers, etc. If its not being used it is off. I hang out all the laundry, run the dish washer only when completely full and use the cool dry setting. We unplug coffee pot, toaster, etc.,anything that does not require being plugged to electricity when not in use. Those little lights counts too. We are in the south and it is getting hot but so far we haven't turned the air on. We have been useing fans and opening windows in the early morning and afternoon when it gets cooler. I was surprised at the savings by doing all this. I thought it would help but not as much as it did.

Sweet!!

I am on a mission this year to try and do something before I get my first $300 electric bill!! (Georgia summers can really kill your electric bill!!)

We have replaced most of the light bulbs and I try to turn off lights and such, but I have four other members of my house who don't cooperate so much. I love the family night if the bill is under $100!!
