On another topic, I'm wondering if the gas prices has affected anyone going out garage saling? Do you go less? Closer to home, subdivision garage sales or only if the ad list something you are really interested in?

It's nice to see Kim in action but I don't necessarily agree with several of her tips. I average 4-6 yard sales a year averaging about $400 per yard sale for 4-5 hours and I have never placed an ad in the newspaper. Getting people to your yard sale is all about your signs. Big, readable signs is the best tip for having a yard sale. With the cost of gas now, it is VERY IMPORTANT to direct your customers to your sale every turn of the way. There is nothing that annoys me more than to enter a neighborhood that has a sign at the entrance and then come to the first stop sign and have to turn left or right and no sign to tell you which way to go. Clothing prices vary significantly depending on where you live. As a yard sale buyer, I wouldn't not pay $1-2 for a used walmart brand shirt even if it was originally $15. Also, if someone has a pair of pants that originally cost $80, I wouldn't pay $8, I might pay $2-3 IF they were in perfect condition. The pricing in 25 cent increments is a great tip and one that everyone should follow as is, placing kid things low for kids to play with and then want to buy. One tip she didn't have on there is to place "leader" items like nice a nice piece of furniture at the end of the driveway to get people to stop.

These are many great ideas-I have been wanting to have a yard sale since spring has sprung...the weather unfortunatly has not been to promising here in southeast Indiana.
