This honestly helps the electric bill. We used to keep our cell phone chargers plugged in all the time, so as soon as they are charged, I unplug them. I've also unplugged everything that we don't use daily and I have seen a decrease in our electric bill. I am also trying not to turn on lights until neccessary and drying clothes on the line outside. It's amazing how much it saves!

I just turn things off at the wall, and have finally got dh and brother to do it as well, and the geyser off at the main's. ( have to remember to turn that on again just before the news at seven)

Yes, I am interested in hearing more about this. I am pathetic about remembering to unplug things....ESPECIALLY my curling iron on my way out to work. I have to run back in and double check this, so this sounds ideal for people like myself!

I, too, have found my self unplugging things. I don't unplug the tv/media equipment or computer, though. For the computer I downloaded the Snap CO2 saver. I unplugg cell phone chargers and the coffee pot. Does anyone unplug their washer and dryer? I really don't know what else I can unplug. My alarm clock recently broke, and I tried to find one that you wind up, but no luck. I settled for a battery operated clock.

check walmart or even Walgreen's for the wind up clock. that's where my grandmother gets hers. i just use my cell. kills to birds with 1 stone when i have to charge it.

I checked with walmart. I actually found the one I bought at Target. I didn't think about walgreens...

We started to just shut everything off as well. I think the larger electronics--like the computer--have made the biggest impact. I heard you can also buy a switch that you put into the wall that you can simply flick when you leave and all unneccesary outlets are shut off completely. That would be a big help to us.

We've seen a huge decrease in our power bills since we started to get rid of the vampires! I didn't buy any gadgets. Just unplug things we don't need during the day. Also, I unscrewed one of the vanity light bulbs above each of the bathroom sinks (it's so ridiculous to have those rows of bulbs going full blast for brushing my teeth! I'm not cheap enough to do it in the dark, though!). That way, if company comes, I can just tighten it back up.

I recently heard that flat screen tvs are the biggest vampires, requiring much more electricity both on and off! Another reason to not give into the "Joneses" and make do with what we have!

I do the same as everyone else, just unplug the powerstrips, but like most of us i have forgotten to turn it on and i ruined a very large roast in my crockpot one day when i was in a hurry and ran out the door before realizing the crockpot acutally was not on. 8 hours later...i returned home thinking dinner was ready when acutally it hadn't even starting cooking
