ever hear of VAMPIRE POWER???

Basically it means that even when switched off,(most) electronics still use small streams of electricity that can accumulate 5-20 % of your electrical bill.

supposedly this kit(about $30) uses a wireless remote control to completely cut power to outlets.

Has anyone already tried this or heard anything about it??

I haven't heard of it or tried it, but we just plug things into a power strip and unplug that (tv, etc. and computer are the main two strips)

i think it would be counterproductive to buy something to help you save power. someone had a good idea to use a power strip and unplug that. or just unplug individual things. the disadvantage is that you have to remember to plug it back in.

i'm ditzy. i've sat for a long time wondering why the coffee wasn't finished, even though i pushed on. silly me- it's unplugged. i'm sure it's rare to find people as clueless as myself, but surely there's some sleep deprived mom out there who's done the same...

Yep, I just unplug everything at night, too. For me it's no big deal to just plug it in again when I need to use it.

No I have never heard of it, we just have powerstrips that we use and unplug except for the coffeepot my DH would never remember to plug it in, in the morning and he is the first one up, now if I was the first one up I would remember!
