Uses for Petroleum Jelly

•Furniture restorer ~ buff furniture with it to make a great shine

•Furniture rings ~ put a little jelly on ring let it stay on for a couple of hours or overnight then wipe with soft cloth

•Squeaky door ~ put a little jelly on the hinge pins

•Un-stick a wooden window or a drawer ~ rub some of it on the tracks (I have done this one once and no problems for a year or so now.)

•Outdoor light bulb ~ put a little around threads to make it easier to remove.

•Painting around a window ~ put a little jelly on glass before you paint. Let paint dry then wipe off jelly.

•Paint cans ~ put a dab of jelly around the top inside of the paint can for an air tight seal

•Bicycle chains, wheels, and roller blades ~a little jelly makes a quick thick grease

•Plumbing connections ~ lubricate the connections to the pipes or plumbing unions to make it easier to separate later also can be used for garden hose

•Prevent battery corrosion ~ clean terminals first then coat with jelly.

•Nuts, bolts, tool protector ~ coat with jelly to prevent from rusting

•Shine Shoes ~put a thin coat of jelly on shoes, boots, or purses and wipe with a soft cloth. This will protect from winter salt and moisture.

•Baseball glove or other leather softener ~ rub into leather to make softer

•Glued shut cap ~ rub the inside of nail polish, glue tubes, and any other bottle to prevent from gluing shut

•Candle wax ~ put jelly around candle holder for preventing wax to stick

•Zipper help ~ put a dab of it on the zipper to help glide easier

•Take off a tight ring ~ apply a little on finger

•Remove a bandage ~ put a bad on the bandage to remove it pain free

•Cuts and scrapes protector ~ put a little jelly on it to prevent air, water, and bacteria from coming in and it promotes healing

•Make up remover ~ put little on a cotton ball to remove make up

•Keep hands clean and soft ~ put a little on before doing dirty jobs and then wipe off when done.

•Moisturize your skin ~ put on like lotion

•Protects lips ~ put a dab on to protect from chapped lips (This is a must in the winter in our house)

•Lip gloss ~ put a little on to make lips shiny

•Soften rough feet ~ right after the shower put on feet. It makes them softer and prevents them from drying out.

•Polish nails ~ put a little on around nails before polishing so if you get on skin you can easily take it off when nails are dry

•Cuticle Softener ~ rub cuticles and nails to keep them soft and free from splitting

•Remove tangles in hair ~ put a little jelly on tangle and with a little brushing action it will come out

•Remove gum from hair ~ apply jelly and work it into hair until it comes out

•Hair coloring ~ Put around skin by hair so the dye doesn’t stain your skin

•Protect a baby from diaper rash ~ just use a thin layer on baby’s behind

•Prevent soap getting into baby’s eyes ~ put a little on eyebrows so shampoo goes to the side

•Pet paws ~ put a little on the paws of the pet when they become dry

What other things do you use petroleum jelly for? Have you ever tried any of these things on this list?

Wow! I never would have thought there were so many uses for vaseline!
I have only used it for taking off a tight ring, and as a moisturizer. Only other thing I can think of is using it as a diaper cream. Much cheaper than expensive diaper creams.

Glad you posted this. Every time I try to open DD's door to check on her the door squeaks and sometimes it wakes her up so I will definitely have to use it for that.
