Dh and I were working out in the yard this morning and I heard our neighbor's central air kick on. I was shocked!! It only got to around 80 today and has only been that warm a couple of times so far. It still gets quite cool at night also. Heck we have not even taken the plastic wrap from our window units yet!!! I turn on our ceiling fans when it starts to get a little warm and we open the windows up. Right now my thermostat in the house says 81, but it really does not feel warm inside yet. Personally, I wait as long as possible to turn on the air!!!

At what point do you turn on your air?

We have central ac which we keep on pretty much year yound (except for those few cold days) I keep the setting at 78 degrees, so it doesn't actually run if the inside is colder than that. We are very humid here so we really need it. I don't know how those people used to live here before ac existed. I know they did it - I just don't know how. They must've been made of tougher stuff!

The temp in our house is 84 degrees right now, but it doesn't feel that hot in here. Usually if the temp and humidity are both high outside, then we turn ours on.

Ours is set at 78 right now. Come July, we will raise it to 82.

We've had our air on for about a month. It's been in the high 90s for the last couple of days and low 90s before that. With 4 heat sensitive dogs inside, we have to run it. We do not use the heater during the winter though so it balances out.

We don't have A/C during the couple of weeks that it is really hot we usually hide out in the basement. Though there are houses, now days, that are getting A/C's. I'm not sure if the people here are getting weaker or we're getting hotter.

Ha Ha. We live in the desert of Arizona, and have already been up over 105, so ours has been on since late March. It's dry, so I keep it at about 78 or 79. I know that when I lived in NY, the humidity forced me to keep it at about 74! I think it also depends on how new/old your house is and how insulated it is.
