Line drying instead of the using the dryer can save alot in the summer when you really wanna spend your $$$ on AC.

Got any good tips to share???

Here's a couple of mine.....

Sheets:

Fold them in 1/2, hem to hem, then turn 3-4 in over the line and pin.(Or in 1/2)

Towels:

Fold either 3-4 in or double over the line.(never hang by the corners or you get perm pull marks you can never get rid of)And when dry, shake really well(like you would a dirty rug)this helps to get rid of alot of the stiffness.

Clothes Line itsself......be sure to wipe down w/some pinesol and water every so often to keep from getting dirt lines on your clean laundry.

I love line drying our clothes, sheets, towels, etc. I use it every day during spring, summer & fall months that it is not raining outside.

Reminds me - I need to go get the stuff off the line.

I was told that if you let the towels stay overnight they would not be as stiff- seems to be true.

I work with Scott Common Sense, and through their site (Tips, Articles & Tools on Money Saving, Time Saving, Health & Household Solutions | SCOTT® Common Sense Community) I found a neat trick on how to save money on fabric softener (when you do use your dryer) by putting a bar of soap of your favorite scent into a sock, and throw it in with your load. It lasts a long time, and you can save a lot of money over time. There are many other money-saving tricks on the Scott Common Sense site as well.

I love to line dry. There is nothing better than getting into bed on fresh, line dried sheets!
I live in the northeast, so most seasons it is great!
My neighbor, who is very "progressive" and thinks she is soooo above everyone else on our street actually said to me one day "Oh, I just think it's so quaint that you hang your clothes out to dry." What the heck is that supposed to mean????
She actually started a conversation on how she is so all about being green, and shouldn't he worry about his truck in these times, blah, blah, blah....
Now, my dh services and installs wells, water pumps, irrigation systems, etc. I really think that a Smart car would be a bit impractical, don't you?!? of course then she got into her huge SUV and drove off. She doesn't even have kids or pets and she works part time in an office 35 miles away and her dh has a big car and works even further away...hmm...who needs to be concerned about being green??
Sorry, WAY OFF TOPIC, but just started rolling. I so can't stand her.
Maybe if she line dried she could be more green! Errrggghhh

I'm so mad. We just moved in Feb and we got our subdivision rules...no clothes lines! No clothes lines! Also one of the trustees lives down the street, so it probably will be out.

We have the same rules about the "no clothes line" in our neighborhood. Well, I didn't see where it says "no wooden hanging system", so I have placed our wooden hanging clothes line on our screened in back porch (if they can see that, then they need to stop being so NOSEY!) to get some of the benefits of line drying!

We have the same rule. So what is a "wooden hanging system"? I am very interested...

Duh...it doesn't take people long to realize they have to ignore me sometimes. I ask some pretty dumb questions...I figured out what you were talking about. Oops.
