Do you leave your ceiling fans on all day long? All night long? Only for a few hours here and there?

DH just put in our a/c in the windows, but I don't like to leave them on for too long at a time. I hate the thought of what our electric bill would be! We have ceiling fans in every room. Last night we ran our a/c for about an hour or so and then turned it off. We had all 3 fans running and to be honest it I was starting to get a slight chill! So I figure this is a good system, but then come the morning or afternoon its almost unbareable unless the a/c is running.

I was just currious as to what method everyone else uses to keep their house cool and if you use ceiling fans, how long are they running/day.

Our ceiling fans are on pretty much all the time in summer and winter. We turn them off in the fall and spring.

Two of our ceiling fans run pretty much all day during the summer.

The "experts" tell you to have them on only when the room is occupied. I follow that rule for the most part, but my master bedroom can get warm and having the fan on makes it noticeably cooler, so if I'm home, moving in and out, I keep it on. I love having ceiling fans!!

We have two ceiling fans in our living room/dining room and leave them on all day. I shut them off at night and turn them on again in the morning.
