I just don't want to turn the air on!!!! We have had several warm days in a row and now I may have to actually put the air conditioner in the window upstairs and turn them both on! I don't wanna!!! I keep thinking about my nice low electricity bill and almost non-existant gas bill. So far we have been able to stay fairly cool with the windows open and the ceiling fans on. So have you mid-westerners given in yet and turned the air on? Right now it is 81 degrees on my main floor...

yes way too long inmy opinion. my dh has to turn it on when it hits 60 out.
it drives me batty as it freezing in the house and he gets mad at me when I turn it so it goes off (he says its wasting more money by not leaving it running) Im like you are not here and im colld so are the kids we have to go outside to warm up to me that is crazy. (and he is not here during the day)
plus he hangs out in the basment wich is colder to begin with so we hang up here and its still freezing

can you tell it bothers me to have it on sooo much (I dont mind it on when the humidty gets high so it keeps the moisture out but gee wiz why do we need to freeze so he can be comfortable

I Hold Out ... And For the most part everyone Understands My Rant about Not Wanting to Have a High electricity bill.

But Once the Kids are Complaining and DH is Sweating.... It Goes on.

I Love the Windows Open More Than Anything, But I Cannot Stand the Humidity either.
I Am the same way in turning on the Heat.
I Wait And Wait ... And Again, The Kids Being Chilly at night Makes Me Give in. Well When they Start Complaining that they are Chilly AFTER I give them An extra Blanket...

We have yet to put in our window units!! It did get very warm last week, but I held out too. My mom did buy us 2 window fans and that has been all we needed so far. I am going to wait as long as possible before I have dh put them in. I have noticed, that not being pregnant this summer is a BIG help!!!!

It must be nice to live in the North during the summer. However, I wouldn't trade my nice winters for anything in the world. I just wish we could have snow on Christmas.

Not a Mid-Westerner here, but a So-Californian. Right now, it's 83.1 in our house and 96 in the shade of our patio.

It's been warm this whole week, but we've had a breeze until today.

I'm still holding out. It's about 2:00 pm and I figure it'll get cooler soon. Unfortunately, the hub of our house, the great room, is the warmest part of the house in the afternoon.

If needed, we could move to another room where it's cooler.

I gave in!!! It was up to 84 in the house so I turned it on in the living room. We will put the air conditioner in upstairs later tonight since it is warmer up there (But what do I care? My bedroom is on the main floor! LOL!) We won't leave it on too long, just until it cools down a bit.

I'm not even close to tempted. I think it feels wonderful. It's 82, just a few clouds, and we have a beautiful breeze. I LOVE summer!

Oh it is so hot and humid in our house without it that I caved in. I survived that last weekend and it was 85 downstairs and even hotter upstairs but it is just so humid in the house otherwise that I had to turn it on. It has cooled down a little at night so at least I can open the house up then - now if we would just get a breeze - once summer hits the breeze usually goes away so even though it is cooler outside the air just doesn't seem to want to come in the house even with a fan in front of the window. I am so not a fan of summer - if it would stay at 80 I would be ok but once it gets above that and the humidity hits I am a gonner. I went to visit a friend yesterday in the local desert and because of the lack of humidity I was fine outside but once I got home at 5 I had to turn the AC on as I felt like I was breathing underwater. I so wish it would cool down here at night like it does at my friends in the desert - I hate to spend so much on AC and am not looking forward to the next few months of higher bills.
