Dh is WAY too proud of the work we have put into our yard and lawn to let someone else do it. I used to do the front with the push mower b/c it is good exercise, but a friend gave us one of his extra (older) riding mowers and I have become a bit spoiled...DH now does the push mower around the edges and DD or I do the rest on the riding mower.

We have a huge lawn. Some years we hire someone to do it, this year we're doing it ourselves.

We cut our own. Sometimes dh, oldest ds, and I will argue over who gets to do it!

Once or twice I have paid a neighbor to mow it. That was several years ago when dh was working full-time and going to school full-time also. I had recently had a c-section and couldn't do it myself. Dh had too much on his plate already, so it was worth it to pay someone else. Now I'm able to do it and if I don't have time, ds can. Dh works out of town and is only home weekends, so I don't like him to have to do it. Sometimes he will anyway, just because he likes to.

I've mowed the lawn before just to have some time away from the kids. One time I was very pregnant and they (and everyone else for that matter) were really getting on my nerves. So I mowed the lawn to have some peace and quiet, but I didn't do the trimming. That evening I went into labor, but ended up having a c-section for failure to progress. I know women who have mowed their lawn hoping to start labor. Dh and I joke that mowing the lawn worked for me, but I didn't finish the job by doing the trimming, so that's why I ended up with a c-section.

We have a huge yard and frankly cannot afford for anyone to mow it for us so we do it. I teach so I usually do it in the summer. I really love to take care of the yard. I enjoy and obsess over it. This year it has been an easy year because there has not been much rain.

My dh and I do it. We are a very team family when it comes to chores and upkeeping of the house and yard.

I wouldn't pay anyone to mow it. I'd use the money to buy gas for the mower!

We do. My DH weedeats, hedges, edges and then when he is done takes the mower away to finish cutting the grass while I weed the flowers. Our grass is in the process of dying since it is so hot and dry so we do cut alot less in the summer but we still do it.

Our lawn isn't that large, nor is it visible from the street or by any neighbors. Dh mows about once a week. We have a push mower. Good exercise and other advantages.

When my dd was a baby, I put her in the baby backpack and mowed with the push mower. Talk about a workout! And, she ended up falling asleep

We pay a landscaper $60 bucks to cut the lawn (1 acre) every other week. It does add up, but this is my first year as a stay at home mom since getting laid off back in December, and it has not been too much of a financial burden yet (I'm still collecting some unemployment)...but w/the birth of baby #2 in less than a month, who knows what will happen...we may have to fix our rider mower again and do it ourselves next year.

It's nice to have it done and not have to worry about it though (nag DH to get it done), so it's definitely something that I will do my best not to have to cut out.
