Oh, man! Good to know I'm not the only redneck here! When my horses were at the house, I'd let them in the front yard & graze, or let the cows in.

We actually do it ourselves. I have DH & 2 DS's to do it, but I actually enjoy cutting it myself. (in fact, I did it yesterday) We only do it when it gets a bit too long, about 2-3 weeks or so.

We absolutely do it ourselves!! We are the only ones in the neighborhood. For about 6 months when DH was really stressed at work we decided to hire a lawn service. It was nice not to have to do it ourselves, but I had a problem with all the chemicals they sprayed willy-nilly all over everything. I tried to ask what they were and ask them not to use chemicals on my lawn, but nobody spoke english and I couldn't communicate with them. Lo and behold, our cat (who spent most of her time in the back yard hiding from ds) got a rapid-growing cancer and died. All the ladybugs (that used to keep the pests off my hibiscus) disappeared and the hibiscus were overtaken and all withered away. We cancelled them many months ago and I still haven't seen a single ant or bug or weed in my yard. I guess some people would consider that good, but all I can think is "How much stuff did they spray out there?"

DH does ours. I'm always amazed at the people on our street that will pay $50 a week to have it cut for them.

We live in an apartment building right now, so it's taken care of, but in a month we're moving back to our hometown and will have a house so DF will have to do it, we're going to share a mower (as well as a snowblower) with my parents to save us all $$ (we will be living closeby).. if there was a reason that DF couldn't do it, I wouldn't have a problem with it though.. it was one of my chores back when..

We have to do our own. We called around last year because dh works such odd hours we thought it would be easier. The cheapest estimate we got was like $120 each time. Ugh!

We cut our own lawn - but it's mostly one of our 3 teenagers and rarely dh or I.

We have a 2-3 acre lawn, so we have a riding lawnmower to cut it. Four years ago we didn't have a rider, so we all took turns cutting the lawn with our push mower. It really wasn't bad, except when we finally finished, it was usually time to start all over again. LOL

We have a small trailer that goes behind our riding mower - the little ones like to ride in it. Keeps them occupied for a couple hours!

We did extend the time between mowing this year because of gas prices. However, we rent from dh's boss and he likes everything to look like a golf course, so we couldn't let it go as long as we may have liked.

My dh mows it himself. He enjoys the exercise, so I doubt he'd ever hire someone to do it. Our lawn is only 1/3 an acre, so it's not like it takes all day or anything. We did hire a lawn service when we relocated from MI to PA. Our house was still for sale in MI, and naturally we needed the yard to look good & obviously we were in PA so we couldn't do it ourselves!!! I spent $120/month, and I thought it was waste!!!

We cut our own grass with a push mower. Good exercise : ) Our lawn is not that large.

I mow the lawn (almost an acre) with the riding mower and then go around with the push mower to get around all the trees and veggie garden beds, etc. I think it's cheap and relaxing that way. I love to do it on a Saturday afternoon, when dh gets home and watches the girls. It's not so bad now after doing it a few times. We just moved in July. before it took us like 15 minutes to cut the grass.
